OUR STORY

The Shed Community Fitness Inc. is an inclusive local not for profit community fitness space, that caters to a diverse group of members including youth, seniors, women, people with disability, injuries and chronic illness.  We warmly welcome clients that do not feel comfortable in or who cannot access commercial gyms.

Our experience with older members, chronic disease and rehabilitation enables us to provide a safe and supportive environment to assist members to take control of their own health and wellbeing journey.  Our gym is designed for trainer led activities (one-on-one or small groups) and is suited to all types of workout capabilities. We have a small team of local trainers who make an effort to know every client and every client's needs and limitations.

Our training focuses on building strength, improving cardio fitness, as well as mobility and balance for individuals with specific needs.  The 'camaraderie' in our small group training sessions and yoga emphasises a sense of belonging, as well as providing social interaction.  Our space is a highly valued social space, vital for the improvement of both physical fitness and mental wellbeing.

Fitness Trainer

Darren

Darren was an avid touch footy player until undergoing knee surgery for a second time. As part of his rehabilitation he was introduced to weight training under a personal trainer. Darren found the same joy he had experienced being part of a team when he started participating in fitness classes. The challenge of rebuilding his muscle strength and the support he received from his new community contributed to all aspects of his life including his mental wellbeing. Darren wanted to share his experiences, understanding and the satisfaction of investing in your own physical health so he completed his qualifications for group fitness instructor, and personal training. Darren wants to provide an enjoyable but challenging experience for his clients as they progress on their fitness journey.
